The Used caught fire with their run of album play shows at House of Blues Chicago on March 31.
In Love and Death is the second album from the iconic act. The act performed their first round of dates in the Windy City on Monday, March 30-April 1. The sold-out shows brought in long-time and new fans of the emo band while giving each night the space to highlight every album, individually.
For this show day, Chicago math-rock act Origami Button kicked off the evening. They played the groovy, yet soulfully emotional song, “Peach,” along with other songs such as “Cruise Control” and “Nervous.”

For this tour, The Used added local support to each concert date. Night Spice performed the following night for Lies for the Liars, and demo division raged on the first night for the self-titled play-through. Other acts joining them later this month for another round of shows include Action/Adventure, Footballhead and Gully Boys.
Performing every song from In Love and Death in order, frontman Bert McCracken was high-energy and recreated the original feeling many felt when they heard the staple LP two decades ago. Unlike other acts, they solely played songs from this specific album. On the third night, audience members were yelling for them to play “Taste of Ink.”
McCracken said into the mic: “This is Lies for the Liars night. We’re playing songs from that album.”

Chicago gets another three nights of all three albums on April 25-27. The tour runs through September 8, ending in Australia. They will also be performing at When We Were Young Fest and next year at the Emo’s Not Dead Cruise.
